About this tool
Edit a static JPG, PNG or WebP with rectangles and brush strokes. Choose solid coverage, pixelation or blur for each region. Move and resize regions, undo or redo, reorder layers, zoom to inspect, and export PNG/JPG/WebP. Originals remain in the current editor; generating uploads only a flattened redacted PNG. The server removes metadata and encodes your chosen format.
How to use
- Choose an image, select Rectangle or Brush, and drag to draw regions.
- Choose an effect for each region. Use solid coverage for sensitive information. Adjust positions, sizes or brush diameter and zoom to inspect edges.
- Select a format and generate. Follow the progress and download. Delete temporary files immediately or let them expire within 24 hours.
Frequently asked questions
Is the original uploaded?
The original, regions and undo history stay in page memory. Generating first flattens a redacted PNG in your browser, then uploads only that PNG and format, quality and JPG background options. Reloading, clearing or leaving loses unsaved edits.
How do the effects differ?
Solid coverage replaces source pixels with an opaque color and is recommended for sensitive content. Pixelation averages an image-anchored grid with a block size of strength times two. Blur uses a box average with radius equal to half the strength rounded up. Pixelation and blur retain some image structure; inspect the result.
Can the redaction layer be removed?
The result contains flattened pixels without editable regions, layers or history. The server removes EXIF/GPS, ICC, XMP and comments. Later regions cover earlier ones. PNG and WebP preserve alpha; JPG uses the selected background.
Do preview and export use the same dimensions?
Preview and generation use the same full-resolution algorithm. Zoom changes display size only, with 100% and up to 400% inspection. PNG is lossless; lossy JPG and WebP encoding can change edge pixels, so inspect the download.
What are the limits?
One static image, up to 80MB, 20 megapixels and 16384 pixels per side. Up to 50 regions, 2000 points per stroke and 10000 points per image. Administrators may lower these limits. Both the original file and flattened upload must meet current size limits. Animated images are unsupported.
