Content stays in this browser. Only status, duration, color counts and copy/download actions are reported, without color values. Up to 10 colors and 40 undo steps.

Processed content stays in this page’s memory and cannot be recovered after clearing or closing.

About this tool

Create complementary, triadic, analogous, random palettes or a single random color. Adjust the base with the color wheel and HSL sliders. Lock colors, reorder with handles or buttons, and undo/redo. Copy HEX/RGB/HSL or download PNG and JSON.

How to use

  1. Choose a rule and color count. Click the color swatch or use the wheel and sliders, then generate. Random modes do not need a base.
  2. Select cards to inspect values. Lock colors and reorder with handles or move buttons. Undo/redo restores prior palettes.
  3. Copy a color or the palette; download PNG and JSON from the same snapshot. Clear or leave to release content.

Frequently asked questions

Which color inputs are accepted?

Opaque sRGB: 3/6-digit HEX, rgb(integer, integer, integer) with 0–255 channels, and hsl(hue, saturation%,lightness%). Saturation/lightness must be 0–100%; hue wraps by 360 degrees. Alpha, named colors and CSS expressions are unsupported.

How do locks work?

Locked colors keep their values and positions during regeneration. Reordering moves each card with its lock. Unlock cards before reducing a count that would remove them. No colors change when all are locked.

How do complementary and triadic modes create larger palettes?

Complementary groups are 180 degrees apart; triadic groups use 0/120/240 degrees. Additional colors vary lightness. Analogous colors use 30-degree steps around the base. Achromatic colors use a zero-degree hue.

Are palettes uploaded or saved?

Colors and history stay in page memory. Only status, duration, actual color counts and copy/download actions are reported. Refreshing, clearing or leaving discards content.

How do export and copy differ?

Copy HEX/RGB/HSL; HSL uses enough decimals to restore 8-bit RGB. PNG includes ordered swatches and HEX labels. JSON includes order, locks and all three color representations. Administrators configure history and PNG width.
