Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Images, colors and coordinates stay in this browser. Only status, duration, item counts and copy/download actions are reported. The server receives no image or palette content.
Which pixel is sampled after zooming?
The displayed canvas position maps to browser-decoded source coordinates, starting at zero. The magnifier shows a 9×9 neighborhood with the sample at its center. The checkerboard is not sampled.
How is alpha handled?
HEXA rounds alpha to 8 bits; RGBA/HSLA use six decimals. Fully transparent pixels cannot reveal hidden source RGB. Low-alpha colors may be affected by browser premultiplication rounding.
Which images are supported?
PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and BMP. Animations use the first frame, and photos use their decoded orientation. Defaults are 20MiB, 20MP and a 16384-pixel edge limit. SVG, HTML, damaged and oversized files are rejected.
Is the palette permanently saved?
It stays in page memory, with a default capacity of 24 colors. Select, remove or export JSON. Language switches preserve it; clearing, refreshing or changing tools releases it.
Is screen picking the same as image picking?
Screen picking is optional and requires a user click. It returns opaque sRGB without image alpha. Canvas and coordinate picking work when this API is unavailable.
